Jimmy Edwards worked with many well known comedy stars including Tony Hancock and Eric Sykes as well as appearing in many of Eric Sykes's well known silent comedies such as The Plank. Today he's best remembered today for his appearance as Pa Glum in Frank Muir & Denis Norden's legendary radio series The Glums a feature within their long running radio series "Take It From Here". And also creator and panelist in radio's long running panel game "Does The Team Think" alongside Ted Ray, Arthur Askey and Tommy Trinder. "The Glums" came on the scene in 1953, shortly after June Whitfield joined the cast, replacing Joy Nichols who had returned to her native Australia. They were intended as a revolt against the cosy family serials in which everybody was frightfully decent and nice. Muir and Norden thought that one really awful family would balance things up a bit, and they set out to exploit the nastiness, weakness, and silliness of the main characters - the vulgar and overbearing Mr. Glum, the moronic Ron, and the pathetic, evertrusting Eth who continually saw her fiance as a knight in shining armour... "The Glums quickly endeared themselves to the listening public, eventually becoming the most popular feature of TAKE IT FROM HERE. "Take It From Here - The Glums" was released by BBC Records in 1974 (REH 161) and brings together many classic moments from that series within a series - The Glums, featuring Dick Bentley as Ron Glum, June Whitfield as his fiance Eth and Jimmy Edwards as Pa Glum. If you are a fan of Jimmy Edwards, Dick Bentley, June Whitfield, the great writing team of Muir & Norden or The Glums, this now hard to find LP is for you! | ||

In that time, there were companies set up within or structured brands as part of the company to deal with separate parts of the business, e.g. BBC Records for recorded audio. Sometimes written as BBC Enterprise Ltd.
