A BBC television course of 25 programmes for beginners in Italian. First broadcast 1 October 1972 to 8 April 1973 (with two repeats in each week) Drama script - Alfio Bernabei Cartoon script - Romolo Bruni Language teaching advisor - Paul Cooper Producer - Tony Roberts The voices on the record are those of: Romolo Bruni, Egidia Cazzaniga, Marisa Dillon-Weston, Enrico Granata, Lilly Lembo Lambert, Riccardo Maffey, Yole Marinelli, Paolo Rossi, Silvia Stewart. This is the first of two Avventura records. It's an essential and integral part of the Avventura course, containing a complete recording of all the Cartoon Scenes and Drama Teaching Scenes from the television programmes. On erach band the Cartoon Scene precedes the Drama Teaching Scene. These Scenes are specially designed to illuminate the linguistic structures taught in each programme. Repeated listening to the record will give you practice in attuning your ear to natually spoken Italian and a chance to learn by heart, and pronounce properly, key Italian phrases. Watch the television programme. Listen to the record. Listen again, following the texts in the Avventura book. Read the Explanation section in the book, and do the Talking Practice. Watch the repeat of the television programme. The accompanying book Avventura can be obtained from your bookseller or direct from BBC Publications, London W1A 1AR (price 65p, plus 11p postage and packing.)
Further information
BBC sub label for foreign language records. This was the first BBC label available to the public to purchase starting in the early 1960's. To start with, you could only purchase these direct from the BBC. There were shows aired where listeners could follow the programme on the Radio (usually foreign language training shows) and then purchase the record and separate book to accompany it. These could be kept afterwards to continue their home learning. Later the shows were also recorded for television and the records as well as the books became more widely available in the shops.
