The television series is accompanied by a book and two records. Record 1 covers programmes 1 to 12, and record 2 covers programmes 13 to 25.

This record is the first of a set of two designed to help you make the most of the television programmes. The record contains the dialogue of the teaching scenes from the first twelve broadcasts, together with sections designed to give you practice in pronounciation. Each practice section contains sentences which you should repeat in the gaps provided.

To get the most out of the course try to follow this pattern:
First watch the programme, joining in and speaking aloud in Spanish when asked.
Then listen to the dialogues on the record several times, first without the book, the following the text, until you are thoroughly familiar with it and can reproduce a good deal of the Spanish yourself.
Then read the explanation section in the book.
Then play the practice bank of the record, working through the pronunciation exercise several times.
Then do the exercise in the book, speaking aloud.
Then watch the repeat of the programme.
If you follow this routine week by week, you will be able to use Spanish confidentially in most everyday situations.

The companion book Zarabanda can be obtained by ordering through your bookseller or direct from BBC Publications, P. O. Box 234, London. SE1 3TH.

Further information

BBC sub label for foreign language records.

This was the first BBC label available to the public to purchase starting in the early 1960's. To start with, you could only purchase these direct from the BBC. There were shows aired where listeners could follow the programme on the Radio (usually foreign language training shows) and then purchase the record and separate book to accompany it. These could be kept afterwards to continue their home learning.

Later the shows were also recorded for television and the records as well as the books became more widely available in the shops.
