All of us one The sixth festival of 1,000 Welsh males voices recorded at The Royal Albert Hall, London, in October 1978. When in 1970 I was asked to present for BBC television the second Festival of a thousand Welsh Voices from The Royal Albert Hall, London, I really had no idea what was in store for me. Now some eight years, five festivals, and something like seventy five choirs later I feel that along with the television crews, we are part of the sixth festival. Welsh choirs were no strangers to me, as a musician in the army one frequently appeared on the same bill with the best of them. Names such as Treorchy, Morrison and Llanberis tripped off the tongue of a native Englishman with the same respect as Huddersfield and the Halle. One choir however is one thing, put fourteen of them together and you either have chaos or in this case a musical experience. This is of course no accident - the organisers of The London Welsh Male Voice Choir are now adept at encouraging the respective choirs to come to London, and their Musical Director, John Peleg-Williams, in rehearsing them from far before the journey. Rehearsals and journey completed, sit back, shut your eyes and imagine you are lucky enough to be in The Royal Albert Hall, London, and I can assure you have a treat in store for you with the Sixth Festival of 1,000 Welsh Male Voices. Formed 1968 and 1979 respectively, they were a subsidiary wholly owned by the BBC and merged into BBC Worldwide in 1995. In that time, there were companies set up within or structured brands as part of the company to deal with separate parts of the business, e.g. BBC Records for recorded audio. Sometimes written as BBC Enterprise Ltd.
