Reviews | ||
Below is my review for this release and the ratings.
I admit I have had this record for a long time. I always thought - how do you explain exercises on this medium? I had never played the record until now, but it is surprisingly clear - this is helped a little by the instructional insert and the music.

Eileen Fowler first joined the B. B. C. in 1954, demonstrating and taching her figure exercises in Women's Television Programmes. Three years later her own programme was launched with a team of Keep Fit housewives. For five successive years, she travelled to the B. B. C. Birmingham studios every week. Throughout the country, a million women joined the class on Monday afternoons, exercising in front of their television screens. In 1961 she began to broadcast in Woman's hour on B. B. C. Radio, and subsequently with the West of England Players from Bristol. Miss Fowler returned to television in 1963 with another Keep Fit series on Sunday mornings, under the heading of Adult Education. 1964 saw the beginning of country-wide tours, teaching her exercises to thousands of women. Eileen Fowler has always believed that a woman need not look her age and has gone far to prove it herself. Recently she was invited by Radio's Woman's Hour to broadcast a series on Staying Young. Helen Shields has doveted her life to music - musician and composer, her wide experiences includes continental broadcasting, early years television, and musical direction. Throughout her long and close association with Eileen Fowler, Helen Shields has specialised in music for movement, and is always at the paion during Eileen Flowler's broadcasts. Her talent for marrying the tune to the exercises is well known and for this record she has composed all the music for the Stay Young sequences.
