This is the second of two records which accompany the BBC radio series of twenty programmes for those who already have an elementary knowledge of Spanish. The series is based not on sopecially written texts but on interviews collected in and around Valladolod on topics as diverse as life in a country town, the theatre, the national lottery, religion, the role of women in Spanish society, fashion, and life in a farming community. The voices you will hear on this record are not those of actors but of ordinary Spaniards talking about the things that interest or concern them. We would like to thank them all for their help in making this series. The interviewers Rafael G. Yanez Jose Migual Ortega Bariego Pepe WMachado Produced by Alan Wilding The programmes: Broadcast on Mondays at 7 p.m. on Radio 3 (medium wave) 8 January to 12 March 1973. Repeated Sundays at 3 p.m. on Radio 4 (vhf) 14 January to 18 March 1973. The companion book Tal como es (Book 2) can be obtained (price 35p plus 8p postage and package) by ordering through your bookseller or direct from BBC Publications, London W1A 1AR.

BBC sub label for foreign language records. This was the first BBC label available to the public to purchase starting in the early 1960's. To start with, you could only purchase these direct from the BBC. There were shows aired where listeners could follow the programme on the Radio (usually foreign language training shows) and then purchase the record and separate book to accompany it. These could be kept afterwards to continue their home learning. Later the shows were also recorded for television and the records as well as the books became more widely available in the shops.
