Synopsis

Earth, 1983: the TARDIS becomes trapped in a Time Corridor and is drawn off course, emerging in London's deserted docklands. Deep space, the far future: a prison ship comes under attack from unknown forces. Two seemingly unconnected events - but both linked by one terrible purpose. The Daleks are back, and once again they are in search of their evil creator, Davros ...

Background

After one of their longest periods away from Doctor Who, the Daleks returned to the show in time to give Peter Davison's Doctor the confrontation everyone was waiting for. A quirk of BBC scheduling meant that this four-part story was instead screened in two bumper episodes, making this much anticipated encounter seem even more special. The Daleks are back on good form, and are arguably at their best when portrayed as schemers and tacticians as they are here, rather than monosyllabic killers. The character of Davros makes a memorable return, and even the most cynical observer can't possibly be left unmoved as the Doctor bids farewell to one of his longest serving assistants. A high calibre cast, coupled with dynamic direction, makes Resurrection of the Daleks a memorable event in Doctor Who's long history ...
